"Service Above Self"

Funds raised from the Stock Car Racing Hall of Fame induction ceremonies are used to benefit local and international needs. Our main objective is "Camp Rotary". For the past twenty one years, we have sponsored a live away camp program for clients of the Association of Retarded Citizens.

Chartered in 1974, this club has forty members, each carefully selected to represent a vocation classification within our local area. The Rotary objectives of Community, Vocational, International and Club Service have been fulfilled in may ways.

We also sponsor the following:

  • Interact Club of Atlantic High School
  • College scholarships to worthy students
  • Bill Walter Melanoma Race
  • Volusia County Sheriff's Dept 100 Kids 100 Deputies
  • YMCA Youth Campaign
  • Polio Irradication
  • Stewart Marchman Center

The Richard Petty Service Above Self Award

In 2004, Oceanside Rotary Club of Daytona Beach honored Richard Petty with its inaugural "Service Above Self Award". This award, hereafter to be called "The Richard Petty Service Above Self Award," is presented annually to individuals who exemplify the true spirit of Rotary by giving of themselves unselfishly to this worthy charitable event.
